Why would Apple make an iphone bumper case to protect the iphone 4 but not be able to use it with the white tether usb cord to charge it or connect to itunes. What the **** is going on with at Apple these days? I hope this is not the beginning of the downfall. So people need to seriously loose their jobs for the crap we are going through to support Apple. We should all get discounts to have a nicely designed phone but have to cover it up with an ugly rubber case. ***!!!!

did u get the apple bumper or one of the other free cases they have? because i just ordered mine i ordered the griffin one.

I have the bumper and have not been using. I have had no reception issues.
After reading your post I put the bumper on and the cord works just fine with it.
Not sure what your issue is, but I am not experiencing the same.

Over the years, Apple has included two different USB cords with iPods/iPhones. The earlier cords had a thicker white shell on the plug and the newer cords have a thinner white shell. Only the most recent thinner white shell cord will work on an iPhone 4 with a Apple bumper on it.
I also have a three year old Griffin Power Jolt that has a thicker black shell just like the older Apple cords used to have. I have to remove my bumper to use this cable to charge my phone in the car. Many other non Apple accessories are like this as well.
