Hi Apple Community,
I currently posses and iPhone 4, I recently started having signal problems and I deduced that this was due to a faulty antenna so I sent it off to Apple to be fixed. When I recieved my iPhone 4 back from Apple it was registering as a new iPhone as it had a different IME number, so as you do with new iPhones I had to go through the activation process. Before my iPhone was sent off I was using a Vodafone sim, though now during the activation process and while attempting to sync my iPhone to my Macbook AIr I recieve a message telling me that my Sim is invalid and is not compatiable with my Phone and is not from a supported carrier, therefore the £100+ that I spent on getting my iPhone 4 fixed has virtually become what seems a waste of money as I can't even manage to use the phone and find out if it has been fixed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
Either the original phone was hacked to get it to work on Vodaphone, or it was a "legally" unlocked phone, or it was originally locked to Vodaphone. You need to know which. If it was either of the last 2 you should call Apple and complain that they sent you a defective replacement or a phone that was locked to a different carrier. They should be able to fix it without having to return it again.
If the original was hacked or jailbroken, however, you are out of luck as far as support in an Apple forum is concerned.
Although I personally did not purchase the phone, it is a legally unlocked iPhone 4, so as suggested I shall inquire with Apple and inform them that there is an issue.
Thank you.
Talk to the person who originally purchased it. If it was unlocked by anyone other than the carrier it was originally locked to, it was NOT legally unlocked.
It was purchased by the NHS from Vodafone so ill probably pursue the previous suggestion of contacting apple
