When I pair my iPhone4s with my Porsche 911, everything works EXCEPT I cannot get the "private" setting on the Porsche PCM to deactivate during active calls (incoming or outgoing). This is not the case with anyone else who tries to pair his/her phone with the car - everything works just fine then. If the "private" setting is checked, then although the Porsche recognizes the call, mutes the sound system, etc., I can only conduct the call through the phone itself - sort of defeats the purpose of having a Bluetooth connection for the car. Can anyone help? This does not have anything to do with the volume settings, the mute microphone setting, etc. on the Porsche. It is simply that I cannot "uncheck" the "private" setting on the Porsche ONLY when my iPhone4s is connected. Help please?
When in private mode and you want to switch back, look at the screen on the phone... You can switch between iPhone, speaker phone, and the bluetooth connection from there. Shouldn't be a big deal as you would already have the phone in your hand. If it's a big deal because you're driving, then you should keep in mind that switching to private mode and lifting the phone to your ear is most likely illegal to begin with and you shouldn't be doing that.

Thanks for the info, but the problem was that I was not getting anything other than the regular phone screen on the iPhone. After pairing/unpairing several times, I finally decided to completely power down the iPhone and then tried to repair with the car. Problem solved. The calls came through the car, the "private" box on the PCM was unchecked and the screen on the iPhone showed a choice between "PCM" "iPhone" or "Speaker" - which it had never shown before. You are correct that normally the phone is somewhere in the bottom of my bag while I am driving and I should be able to control everything from the car's PCM screen without touching the phone.
