Greetings,
When I enter an event in Calendar (also other functions), the font size is larger than necessary for my eyesight, despite my age (65)--I must have good glasses.
I have gone to Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendar > select Minimum Font Size > and selected Small. Of the three available fonts, I have chosen Noteworthy, as it provides the most characters per inch.
The unncessary Mimimum size is particularly frustrating in Calendar. When I click on a date to see what I have scheduled, it displays a maximum of about 20 characters. I have to touch on the event to see more. I try limiting my capital letters and using creative abbreviations, but a thinner and smaller typeface would still be readable.
Is there an app that would enable me to either
- Reduce the font size beyond the "minimum" Small?
- Allow me to select a thinner typeface with less space between characters, such as Arial Narrow?
- Reduce the amount of wasted white space to the left of calendar entries? That space could display at least 8 more charcters.
Thanks,
Marc Gee
The minimum font size selection at Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calenders below the Mail section is for email only.
The Noteworthy font selection is for the Notes app, not for the Calendar.
The font size for the Calendar can be changed at Settings > General > Accessibilty > Large Text. The smallest selection is 20pt and off below that. No sure what size Off defaults to.
3rd party apps don't access to private iPhone APIs for a number of good reasons with security being an important one, which would be required by a 3rd party app to make such changes.
Thank you Allan
I checked my settings for Calendar and selected 20pt. I then went back to my Calendar and found the settings unchanged, so it appears that default is also 20pt.
The last para of your reply explains why I haven't seen apps for changing this. Thank you for relieving me of further useless searches for apps that could make the change.
Hopefully, Apple will someday provide an update that allows more versatility in font size and typeface selection.
Regards
Marc
There are, however, about a gazillion calendar apps in the App Store, many are free. You might try looking at some of the better rated ones and seeing if you like the display better.
Best of luck.
