The system you refer to is expensive because the manufacturer feels they can charge that much and get away with it.

I wasn't trying to anger anyone. I just know that in one of the betas for iOS 5.1, it was already supported...so it's possible. I just want to know why it went away, that's all.

No one here could possibly answer a question of "why" this might be. Even if they knew... it's forbidden by the terms of service.

That said, it IS supported, if the device you're connecting to supports it.
