iPhone 4 not powering up

My iPhone 4 suddenly went dead out of the blues without warning. I initially thought the battery ran out but it's been on charge for over 1 hr and it's still not powering up. It wasn't dropped or had any physical damage like contact with liquid etc.

 

Has anyone got any ideas what could have gone wrong?

Panic's over iPhone 4 not powering upiPhone 4 not powering up. I did a hard reset (hold down sleep/wake & home buttons at the same time) and it's come back to life again

FYI, there's no such thing as a "hard reset", or even a "soft reset" for that matter.   A reset is a reset.
