My iPhone 4 microphone isn't working during calls, the people on the other end can't hear me. The mic works OK in apps like Skype, etc. I tried the cardboard trick and it worked for one call and then it stopped working again.
I then decided to buy a bluetooth headset and work around the iPhone 4's faulty, but to my surprise that isn't working either. Even with the Bluetooth headset I can hear the other people but they can't hear me.
Is there any way to get this working?
When using a bluetooth headset, the mic on the device is deactivated.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?

Of course the mic on the phone is deactivated. The problem is that when talking on the bluetooth headset the other person can't hear me. Same thing as when talking directly via the phone.

If you utilize a wired headset or the speaker phone, can they hear you at that point? If not, I would suspect a carrier network issue.
