My iPhone 4 got submerged in water for 5 minutes, I somehow got it working after all. Now, the phone will only turn on when connected to the charger (the battery is probably dead). The phone displays the apple logo then procceeds to the connect to iTunes screen. The problem is that since the phone wont hold a charge and only works when connected, I can't get the computer to recognize it when it's plugged in because it's turned off and dead. So since the computer won't recognize it, it won't give power to it, thus; making it not plug into iTunes.
Any help/suggestions?
Yes. Take it to an Apple store and get an out of warranty replacement ($149 in the US, your mileage might vary)
You've killed it.
What about buying a new battery and replacing it myslef? (I already had to take apart the phone to get it to work...)
Then do that. Why do you think it's the battery? It's far more likely that you have fried the circuitry. By taking it apart yourself, Apple will likely not help you. You are probably looking into a brand new full price phone.
If you buy a new battery and replace it yourself, Apple won't touch it after that. Much safer to justget a replacement phone from Apple to begin with.
