after i updated my iphone 4s to the new ios update version 5.1.1 i noticed my signal strength was weak.. like by three bars.. now i cant use data half the places i go, i called at&t and they reset the network stuff for me.. still nothing.. is there a way to drop back down one step? its obviously a software issue but we all know it takes a while for this stuff to get fixed and i kinda need my phone because its the only one i have. oddly enough the voice signal seems to be ok dispite the fact theres one bar. strange very very strange.. any help would be most greatly appreciated.. seeing as i paid full price for this 64 gig phone id like to not own a 800 dollar paper weight. lol
I have the same problem with my iPhone 4s and my wife's 4 is affected too.
5.1.1 came out the same day my wife and I upgraded (she to iPhone 4, me to 4s). I'd been associating the signal drop with a local mast problem but your theory makes sense.
Siganl dropping to zero is the main problem but it also means that the phone is chewing through my battery.

Gdgmacguy the sim i do not think is the problem because my wifes 3gs has the same issue.. once we updated to 5.1.1 it was like our signal just sucked. we called ATT and had them reset the phones network settings from their end still not working.
ipod60gbblack, my signal does not drop to 0 but has been going to 1 bar then to edge network... att is worthless as far as helping me. ill be calling them again tomorrow morning and if i get anywhere ill post in here again.
