Installing iPhone 4S Incorrectly

When trying to install my new iPhone 4S, iTunes seemed not to allow me to restore it to my backed up files from my old iPhone and I subsequently installed it as a new device. Now I can't restore any of my music and data onto my new 4S and i see 2 different phone profiles on iTunes. Any ideas?

One does not "install" an iPhone.  What specifically are you trying to accomplish?

 

Syncing media to the device has nothing to do with the ability to restore from a backup.

 

Might be a good idea to read the User's Guide so you have a better understanding of how things work.
