Okay, so over the last week Ive noticed that maybe once a day or once every two days I get a random screen pop up on my iPhone that talks about Building Search Index and This only has to happen once . It also displays some random information in large letters. See the screenshots linked below.
Ive tried looking on the Internet to what this is but cant find anything. I can confirm my phone is running 3.0.1 (upgraded a few weeks ago) and is not jailbroken or anything like that.
Please see the screen shots I have taken on my public iDisk under the iPhone folder at

Many thanks for your help in advance!

I dont think you have a virus. it looks like you have some third party app like google desktop running. I noticed the advertisement and g at the top of the screen.

Its strange, I do have the google app, but I cant remember the last time I actually used it. Would it be doing the indexing in the background even when the app isnt running?

Unless you have a jailbroken phone, no third party app can run in the background.
So no app can randomly pop-up like the kind in your screenshots. You must be running the app manually.

No app is supposed to run in the background, but i have seen the phone slow down to a point, that something must be running.
The OS is supposed to only allow mail and phone functions run in the background, but if it cant kill a process, it could run on its own.

You can call your service provider and see if they offer such a service.

So, I just got a new iPhone yesterday after switching to AT&T. Almost everytime I try to charge the phone via home charger, it doesnt work. Any idea on whats wrong here, and should I have them replace the phone?

Greetings,
If youre talking about the little cube charger that came with the phone, then yes, have them replace the charger. If its a third party device, ten lose it, it may not be compatible, and many of them are not.
It should come on and you should see a screen showing a green battery looking icon, right when you first plug it in.
Cheers,
M.

Thank you very much. Yes it is the original charger that came with the phone so hopefully thats all that is wrong. Is there anything wrong with using a 3rd party charger?

i have an iphone 3g and a macbook pro. i use entourage program, and the contacts do NOT sync btw my phone and the computer. i change a contact in entourage, and the old contact is still on my iphone. ive even tried restoring my iphone, and after the restoration of my iphone, it STILL did not change the contacts—it restored my iphone to the contacts that it had in it BEFORE clicking restore!!!

I am looking for any information on the ability to compose and send a text without having to type it out. I recently visited my local V store and the blackberry storm has the ability to compose and send a text using the users voice. This is particularly interesting with the new legislation that looks to ban texting while driving. I would really like to see my 3G have this function. Any Ideas???

You can look in the App Store.
You should not text and drive no matter what the law is.
I know it is unorthodox, but instead of texting, you could call someone and speak with them handsfree while in the car.

Pennsylvania based AppAnnex today announced the release of AmpliVision for all camera equipped iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. AmpliVision is a simple app created to help users light up and zoom in on anything they want to get a clearer look at. The app lets users turn their device's camera into a magnifying lens, allow them to pause their views and zoom inwards to read small text, and even utilize their flash into a bright LED light to brighten up whatever they're reading or looking at.
