Hackers boot Linux on iPhone

A new front has opened in the ongoing arms race between Apple and iPhone hackers, with one hacker group making the iPhone boot with a Linux 2.6 kernel.

The announcement of the successful kernel porting was made on the Linux on the iPhone blog, complete with instructions and source code.

Although a bootloader, kernel and a Busybox terminal are able to be loaded -- many features of the iPhone remain unimplemented: touchscreen, sound, accelerometer, networking. Input to the terminal must be made via a USB interface from another device that the iPhone is attached to (humorously summed up by Geek Hero Comic).

The group that ported the kernel is derived from the iPhone DevTeam group that has been responsible for jailbreaking previous iPhone software.

IphoneiTunes upgrade created no phone service frozen screen 3G

AFter trying to upgrade iTunes I no longer have any phone service. The screen just shows an image of a plug with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo. Its frozen. What can I do?

iPhone doesnt send SMS to one contact

Ive had my iPhone for a while and this just started happening, I try to send a text to my best friend and when it says its sent she doesnt get get it or we already are texting and my phone stops sending texts for no reason. This is really announng cause we used to text all the time and its on her that doesnt get the texts. She has a samsung gravity on tmobile
Please help!

Im having this exact same problem with my iphone, my gf doesnt get my texts anymore but i can get hers, i have a 3G and a 3GS, i tried on both phones and it doesnt work still!!
i really want to text her !!

Hi Guys
This may of been asked before so my apologies. I have been sent a Video message through MMS. It plays fine but how do I save it to file, Can I save it to file. I cant copy and paste it anywhere, or even forward it to Mobile me or another person.
What are we supposed to do with Video files received I dont want to keep it in my messages forever.
Anyone??

I dont believe that you can save video sent through MMS.

I hope they fix this, that would be stupid if you cant save videos sent to you via MMS. I know that Apple just implemented this, but I really hope they continue to add to the features of MMS. I get they dont allow you to send a sound and a picture, which is huge in my book.

Cheers for the responce.
I cant see what the point is then of being able to receive video messages and do nothing with them.. I even tried with receiving video on a e-mail but again no options to save. Is this the same for the 3gS?
Pictures are fine can save them to file and upload to Mobile Me, So why not video? Bit dissapointed in that then.
Unless someone knows a way?

Great question as I have recently purchased a new iMac 24 along with Mobile.me. It would be great to have Apple develop S/W and appropriate interfaces that could allow each of the 1-5 accounts that are available under Mobile.me to be able to select (Radio Button) any of the supported iPhones from the one master account. Something that can be used/valuable for the entire family on many levels. (I.e. Lost, Stolen or tracking younger family members while on travel across the US or internationally)

iPhone photos not synced in order using Aperture 3G

I just moved from iPhoto 09 to Aperture, and when I synced my iPhone with Aperture for the first time, Aperture isnt syncing to iPhone in chronological order like it did in iPhoto. All my images, albums, etc. are sorted by image date in Aperture, but there doesnt appear to be any rhyme or reason as to how iTunes/Aperture sync to my iPhone 3G. Id like to be able to scroll down to my newest photos on the iPhone like I did when I synced with iPhoto 09. Anything I need to do differently? Thanks.
