I noticed that if the message had a PDF attachment, then that icon is all I see. The text portion seems to have been ignored, although I can see it in the preview of the message. Very strange.

Maybe it takes awhile, but when I tap voice mail, the phone dials my voice mail and logs in. It doesnt seem to do the visual voice mail part. I just got it today. Is there a lag time? I did get an activated message, however, so I know it is activated.
I did try to reset network settings. I have not yet syncd with computer.

Hi,
If you dial 611 from your iPhone it will call AT&T support and they will be able to reset your voicemail so you can set up a password and get the feature.

thanks. I actually tried calling the old fashion way from a land line, and going into my admin options there and changing it. But no luck. Is your way doing something different?

Take a look at the AT&T VVM User Guide: http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?solutionId=KB80510&t=solutionTab
It has instructions for setup.

This is the odd thing, when I hit phone, then voicemail, it just dials my voicemail and I dont have to enter anything. It just starts playing. I have reset the password by phone and via my online att account. Doesnt matter. I will have to call ATT tomorrow. I dont think it is a phone issue, however.

Its worth a call. Ask the customer service people to check the provisioning of your account and make sure its provisioned for an iPhone.

Just updated to iTunes 10 & then ran the OS 4.0.2 update on the phone. Shut down the phone & restarted it after syncing and the thing couldnt fine my SIM. Rebooted again & still couldnt find it. Shut down & removed/replaced the SIM & restarted and it found it. So, just wanted to throw that out there in case someone else has the same problem. Now I wonder what else Im going to find. Guess thats what I get for updating too soon! Lesson learned! Cheers! -AM

I just did the same but had no problem (I have a 3G also). The idea is to let it do its own thing - meaning connect it to the computer, click to install the update, and just let it work. I found there was no need to shut down the phone and reboot after the sync; the update will do all of that during and after the install. Once the firmware is installed, it then restarts and retrieves the SIM. Granted it does take some time, but thats the idea. All in all, with mine it took upwards of half an hour or so. Now it runs great - everything is up to date, apps run great, everything is synced. Just takes a little patience!

I just wanted to offset some of the complaints on this board so people who are nervous about the phone will know it is a good buy. I havent had any issues at all with my phone. No yellow screen, no reduced reception (i am using the black bumper) and no problems with the camera shutter or email operations. All my functions work perfectly, speakerphone is loud, headphones are clear, and the battery life is great. I guess my question would be am I the only person who has never had any problems with an iphone? Because this forum makes it seem like they are guaranteed to have issues when they usually dont. Just sayin...

Just picked up my 3rd iPhone 4. Two from Apple Online and Third from ATT Walk in. All Three work perfectly fine. Checked every complaint with the exception of the reception issue solved by bumpers and case.

Upgraded your iphone 3G/3GS to 3.0 firmware via iTunes, jailbreak the iphone using redsn0w, install cydia or icy.
After your iPhone is jailbroken and installled either cydia or icy, run cydia or icy, add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to cydia or icy. Search for “ultrasn0w” and install it. Reboot your iPhone. Your iPhone is unlocked and you are done.
