Hi,
I had my iphone synced and backed up with my macbook air. i have recently sold my mba (but i still have a time machine back up from it) and now im unable to sync my iphone with any computer without loosing all the data. I need to keep my apps, app data and contacts, pictures etc.
Is there any way to do it (i have a desktop PC and a laptop PC right now)

I think that you could move your entire itunes over to the new machine and it should work.
iphone can sync music and pics to ONE library/computer at a time. This is why you should move everything from one computer to the other FIRST, then sync iphone.

Your apps can be transfered in itunes. App data, contacts and pictures taken with your phone are part of a backup.
Disble autosync in itunes. Connect your phone, right click on it in the devicelist in itunes and choose transfer purchases and backup.
After backing up manually your phone will be wiped and you can restore it from that backup to get all your data back. See what a backup contains and how it is done: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
There is 3rd.party software, for example touchcopy or similar, allowing you to copy your music and other content back to your computer, but this software is not supported by Apple.

Have you tried doing a restore in iTunes to see if that will resolve the issue?

Sync your iPhone with iTunes, then right click on the iPhone icon in the left pane and select Backup. After that, there is a Restore button on the main iPhone screen, that will reinstall the firmware on your iPhone. Even though iTunes backs up your camera roll on your iPhone, I recommend backing them up yourself as well. After the restore, you can restore all your apps, data, and then resync to get all your music, videos, etc back on your iPhone.

This should not be too hard to do since the antenna jacks are smaller than the profile of the case and would be very useful for those of us who travel. I often find that an external amplifier is all that is needed to make my phone work at numerous campgrounds during my summer holidays.

This is just a curious question, because my iPhone is functioning fine. I noticed just this morning that when I shake it, I hear a faint rattling, like something inside the phone is loose or something. Is this normal? Has anyone else heard this? Is there a movable part inside the iPhone that would rattle when you shake it? Should I have it looked at or not worry about it?
Thanks!

That is the accelerometer, it is the part in the phone that allows the iPhone to know what position you are holding it in. For example, you tilt the iPhone to show pictures in landscape or show safari in landscape, it is the accelerometer that allows the iPhone to know this. It also allows you to tilt the iPhone for games and a bunch of other apps.

If it is a noticeably loud rattling then its not normal (especially if the piece that is rattling can be heard going all over the inside of the iPhone), but shaking my iPhone right now it is a soft rattling that is contained. You can hear it start and stop at exact points, so you can tell that way as well that its not bad. If you want, next person you see with an iPhone check theirs out and shake it.

Pennsylvania based AppAnnex today announced the release of AmpliVision for all camera equipped iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. AmpliVision is a simple app created to help users light up and zoom in on anything they want to get a clearer look at. The app lets users turn their device's camera into a magnifying lens, allow them to pause their views and zoom inwards to read small text, and even utilize their flash into a bright LED light to brighten up whatever they're reading or looking at.
