This guide will teach you how to unlock your iPhone 3G/3GS running 3.0 firmware using ultrasn0w.

  • Step 1
I strongly recommend you backup your iPhone via iTunes BEFORE you begin this guide.

  • Step 2

Upgraded your iphone 3G/3GS to 3.0 firmware via iTunes, jailbreak the iphone using redsn0w, install cydia or icy.

  • Step 3

After your iPhone is jailbroken and installled either cydia or icy, run cydia or icy, add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to cydia or icy. Search for “ultrasn0w” and install it. Reboot your iPhone. Your iPhone is unlocked and you are done.

I had a BlackBerry until a couple months ago. The button in the upper right hand corner of a BlackBerry is a sleep button but on a call it is a mute button. The button in the upper right hand of a iPhone is the sleep button...except when youre on a call it is the hang up button. When Im listening to conference calls and I want to go to mute real quick I tend to hit this button...and ta da! Im out of the call. Even after a couple months I just cant get used to not having this as a mute button. And really I kinda prefer having that button there because I can quickly mute to cough, ****, etc With the iPhone if the phone is up to my face I have to wait for it to sense Im not by the phone, turn the screen back on and then push mute. This is probably the only thing I miss about my BB is the mute button.
Is there anyway to configure this button to be a mute button and not a hang up button??? Or an app that does it?

    In a word, no.
When Im on a call, selecting the sleep/wake button to turn the iPhones screen off when not using the earpiece - when using the earbuds or a bluetooth headset does not hang up the call.
The iPhone includes a proximity sensor which turns the iPhones screen off when it is held up to your ear and face during a call so a button on the screen is not accidentally selected by a part of your face. When removing the iPhone from your ear and face during a call, there should be no wait for the screen to turn back on - this should be instant - at least it is for me.
There is no 3rd party app and there will be no 3rd party app that can change or affect such iPhone functions.

    Hi,
I used to have a perfectly working iPhone until i synced and updated it to 3.1.3.
I received unknown error (2) and now Im stuck in restore mode and there seems to be no way out. My phone is out of warranty so its cheaper to buy a new one then to repair it. Anyone have any suggestions? Apple does not seem to care.

    Hi,
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275 provides general tips that will resolve most update and restore issues.
Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a high-speed USB2 port on the computer, using the cable that came with it.
Do you have a Mac or PC? What security software is running on the computer? If you havent already, try updating, reconfiguring, or uninstalling the security software.

I want to buy an iPhone, but I have long fingernails. Can I touch the screen with my fingernails instead of skin or will I have to take my fingernails off? Can you change the sensitivity for the touch screen, so I can type with my fingernails?

When I try to send an email I get an invalid address message. I can receive email just fine. It is set up as an IMAP account that is tied into my Mac Power book which has Apple mail installed. I deleted the account and reinstalled it with no luck?

I have a hearing impairment and find the incoming voice volume on my iPhone to be very weak. Is there a way to turn it up? I cant find it in the Settings.

The volume switch on the side controls the volume.
You can adjust it while on a call.

You can use the volume button on the left side. You might also try speaker mode or a headset.
