iMessage not letting me use my phone number. It only says use apple ID for iMessage iPhone

I've been trying to activate my iMessage but ya not working my iMessage are received at my email rather than my phone number. I tried to reactvate iMessage but only gives me the option of 'using my apple ID for iMessage' someone please help me!

iMessage requires WiFi and your Apple ID

I know you need wifi. I've tried whilst I'm connected to wifi and I have an apple ID. My iMessage works with my apple ID/ email address but I want to connect it with my phone number
