A friend of mine recently got a new phone and is no longer using an iPhone. When I try to text him now the text keeps trying to send it as an iMessage and then converts to a text but sometimes this conversion is slow and the text will go out 5-10 minutes later. Is there any way I can set texts to him to default to text format? My phone doesn't seem to be understanding that the recipient no longer has an iphone.

If he registered his iphone with Apple, have him:

Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.doLog in if not already logged in.Click on "edit products"Click on the "x" to the right of the product.Click "unregister"

This often will unregister the phone with iMessage.
