My main computer has basically crashed completely, and I'm slowly regaining my music back on my laptop. I want to sync my iPhone to it to get some new music I recently got, but I'm not sure what will happen to my contacts and my PHOTOS (<- NEED THOSE)
I'm a complete nub with iCloud, and this is my first ever iOS device.
Thanks.
Without connecting your phone, open iTunes on your computer and go to Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically". This will prevent iTunes from automatically syncing when you connect your phone so you can first import your photos. Then import you photos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) and back up your contacts by syncing them with iCloud (Settings>iCloud>Contacts>On). Now they will be safely backed up. Then follow this guide to establish syncing with your new iTunes library with little or no data loss: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141. (Step 2 only applys if you are syncing your calendars and contacts to a supported program on your computer using iTunes. If you aren't, be sure not to select to sync calendars or contacts on the Info tab of your iTunes sync settings prior to syncing your phone in step 9.)
