was it enough liquid that the iPod was submerged in it?  if so, power it down, and put it in a bowl of rice for a few days.  no i'm not joking,  but its important that it be shut off right after contact with water.  the rice absorbs moisture and can HELP.  This is not a sure thing, the damage might be done depending on what you have done so far.  But I have used this method many times with great success.  Hope that helps.
