I set up my iphone but it says no service I'm on Vodafone iPhone 4S

So I got my new Iphone 4s yesterday, put the sim card in and turned it on. I 'activated' it, as in, I did the setup process with settings etc. But now when I turn it on, in the left hand corner, where it's now supposed to say Vodafone, it says no service. and when I look at iMessage settings, it says 'waiting for activation'. What does this mean and how can I fix it? I want to start using my phone but I can't because of this

yes, I got it from a local Vodafone shop, after waiting two months for them to send it.. I went into the store and they said there were some problems but they gave me the iphone..

In the UK?? and you are on contract with this iP4S

First try removing and reseating the sim

Next back to Vodafone and get them to try a different sim and get it working

If all that fails tell them to replace it (NOT SEND FOR REPAIR )

as it has yet to function as an iPhone ( Sale of Goods etc etc)

and I would get them to get the new one working before you leave
