Rest assured, there is no spyware presently affecting iOS, unless the phone was hacked (jailbroken).

Can you access Cydia on the phone? If so, it's possible. If not, don't worry about it, because Apple wouldn't allow that.

No spyware currenty affecting iPhone's or iOS Devices, unless "jailbreaked" and any apps that function as a "spy" can be determined by launching it from your homescreen or settings.

 

And in an attempt to disguise turn off your location data unless you need it when roaming GPS maps, just to make sure your wife won't find "malicious files". :)

Let's go with the obvious here... ask your wife.  Unless you're doing something that would warrant her installing spyware in which case you have bigger issues.
