how I mass delete of all my texts iPhone 3G

I have hundreds of texts on my phone, piled up over time - all unique conversations - mostly unique conversations (from unique senders due to the fact they are from automated systems and based on dates or unique unit IDs). So theyve piled up over months and there are hundreds, if not thousands.
How the heck do I delete all of them on the iPhone? Seems the iPHone makes you go into each single one of them, hit delete, then go to the next, repeat. If I have to do that, I will be deleting them for a week.
Is there an easy way to delete all of them? Perhaps from the iTunes side when docked?

You must delete SMS from the iPhone, no different from any other cell phone - at least not different with all other cell phones that Ive used.
You can delete an entire conversation at once, but there isnt an option to delete all conversations or multiple conversions at once.

Well, I dont know what phones you have used, but on my Blackberries, I could highlight multiple emails/texts at a time and easily do a mass delete. I also think this was easily possible on my previous Qs.
Anyway, I was just wondering if that was possible.
Thanks for the reply. It took me about an hour of swiping and deleting, but I managed to delete several hundred conversations from months of pages that had collected from network switches that had paged me over the past 6 months for various reasons.
