On the iPad you can hide the keyboard anytime while typing. I cannot see a way to hide the keyboard when typing a mail message. I saw a post saying you close, save, go to your saved messaes and open the message again - too time consuming. There is a fix on the jailbroken site, but I dont want to jailbreak the phone. There must be a way to hide the keyboard in a mail messge. In a text message you can. Any help would be appreciated.
Why, out of curiosity, would you want to hide the keyboard when you are trying to compose a message? You can't type anything if the keyboard isn't displayed.

To look at your message, click on where you want (particulary in a long message) and edit or review what you are going to send before you send it. Many reasons why. Easily done with Messages on the iPhone by swiping down or on the iPad by pressing the keyboard button; can't seem to find it on the iPhone.

Seems like an oversight on Apple's part, as you can now do this in messages & in mail on the iPad. Other than saving as a draft, then re-opening, you can't. Suggest Apple add this in an iOS update, here:
