When iCloud became operational, I carefully went through the process and migrated the MobileMe account to it. I agree that the best solution would be to delete the MobileMe on the iPhone but, as I've admitted, I can't find an option in any iPhone menu to do that. So, that leaves deleting, then reactivating the iCloud account. I am understandably reluctant to take that step since I don't want to lose anything, particularly since deselecting "All Inboxes" and simply choosing one of the two duplicates gets me to where I want to be. However, I'd rather fix the problem than rely on a workaround and probably will do as you suggest. Thanks for your replies.
cpj -- I did exactly as you (and an Apple chat-tech) suggested and it solved the problem. Specifically, I deleted the iCloud account, powered down the iPhone, then turned it back on. Success! The duplicate inbox is gone. Thanks for your input.

Yes me too cpj357 ... worked a treat and mobile me account now gone and only have iCloud showing - NO DUPLICATES whooooopa !! Thankyou :-)
