My Iphone 4 home button doesn;t react when I push it. Only when I push it several times it reacts. What can I do about it?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?

 

If none of the basic troubleshooting resolves the issue, it would tend to indicate a hardware problem and a trip to the Apple store or whomever provides support in your country would be the next step.
