So my iPhone 4s is not responsive. On about 50% charge, it just went black. It won't reboot using the home/power button combination, and does not display the charging icon when I plug it in. When I connect to the computer, it does not appear in iTunes under "Devices." The only sign of life is that it appears as a Device in iPhoto, and I was able to upload recent photos to my computer, even though the phone itself appears dead. Any advice or thoughts about how to remedy this situation?

If the basic troubleshooting steps (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW) recommended in the user guide don't work, you'll need bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.
