HELP ASAP iPhone 4S

I just bought my iPhone 4S 32g. My phone is acting like it has headphones plugged into it constantly or like it is constantly plugged into like a speaker system. It will not play my music w/out being on a dock or having headphones attached. What do I do? It is also not allowing me to turn the volume up or down on my ringtones when the sound is on nor is it allowing me to hear my text tones. What could be going wrong and how do I correct it? I already restored it and updated it. I dont know what else to do. I just bought it almost a week ago Thursday. Please Help!

If your phone is stuck on headphone mode, you may have debris in the headphone jack at the top of the phone blocking the sensor. Try blowing on the jack with compressed air and quickly inserting/removing your headphones multiple times to clear it.

If you can't change the volume on your alerts go to Settings>Sounds and make sure Change with Buttons is set to On. Then you should be able to change the volume with the buttons on the side of the phone.
