find my iphone is tracking for if your phone gets lost or stolen if u set it up it uses your internet to track the phone, you can track your phone on a comuter or another apple product you can set a passcode on it send a message to it or what not

its basicly a tracking device on your phone

You could use Prey, it's a third party theft service. Works great and I prefer it too Find my Phone.
