My dad's customer gave him a 3g long time ago from swizerland, he had to jailbreak it in order to use it in hong kong, now he passed it along to me and im in canada, but my phone has been useless recently due to the upgraded apps and everything, so other than calling and texting, its useless, i wonder if it'll work after i restore it to some version like 3.2 maybe? it is 3.0 now, and also do i need to jail break it again? or does the europe version compatible with the canadian version ?
If ANYONE could help thatd be very very much appreciated!!
Thanks!!

We don't have any help for you here with a jailbroken iPhone. It is time to purchase a new phone.
no i dont want it jailbroken anymore, thats why im asking, if i restore the thing, would i be able to use it on factory settings in canada?
If it had to be jailbroken to use in HK it is locked to a carrier. Unless that is a Canadian carrier the phone is useless to you.
No. If you are successful in removing the jailbreak - not always as easy as claimed by the hackers - your phone will be re-locked to the original carrier in Switzerland, and won't work with any other carrier, in any other country. Your only choice would be to get that carrier ot officially unlock it.
We can't help you. We can't discuss jailbroken iPhones. Most of us have no idea how to reverse the jailbreak.
To answer your question, the most likely reason he jailbroke the phone was because it was locked to the cellular service provider in the country of origin for the phone. If he jailbroke the phone then he also likely defalted on the service contract, which means he likely stole the phone bcause he did not pay full price for the phone. You can't change that, so no, the phone is not likely to function in Canada except while roaming on a Canadian cellular partner with an account from the cellular company to which the phone is locked.
