After years of trouble free use with o2, I just got a great (?) deal with a new iphone 4s on the 3 network with unlimited data and free tethering.
First they put me on the wrong tarif, but I changed that and ended up with a £50 discount ( upfront fee for the phone refunded)
Now, there is a red icon on the green phone icon that wont go away and I keep getting voicemail alerts when there are no voicemails, so they have given me a new sim that should be activated tomorrow and will cure that, hopefully.
Next, internet on 3g is sooooo sloooow.
I had wifi turned on so when I get home, my phone connects to my home network, when I am out, it connects to 3g.
After being unable to connect to the internet at all today whilst out ( on 3g) 3 customer support told me to turn wifi off all the time, and I got onto the internet again. But, it is so slow.
Does anybody else have an iphone on the 3 network and if so, is it slow to connect to the internet? Have you got wifi disabled?
On o2, I left wifi on all the time and had no problems when connecting to the internet either with wifi or 3g. I just want this new phone to work properly or I might end up going back to o2 ( but itsd more expensive)
I thought 3 were the best 3g provider!

I`m on the 3 network and don`t seem to have any speed issues over 3G.
Have you tried resetting the network settings by going to Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network Settings.
You will have to rejoin any WiFi networks after the reset, No other data will be lost.
You could also try the 5 R`s
(R)eboot
(R)eset
(R)etry
(R)estore from backup
(R)estore as new
If all else fails then you could try making an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar and have them take a look.
I've done the 5 R's. The 3 Technician told me to turn off wifi and it connected better as soon as I did that. She said its because the phone is trying to find a wifi network all the time, but my last phone (iPhone 4) connected to 3G if it couldnt find a wifi signal, so I assumed this one should do too.
Even with wifi off at home, it takes ages to load a webpage sometimes using 3G, then after a while it will work quicker. Never had this problem with 3G on my o2 phone.
I was just wondering if the 3 network was very patchy. Also, I dont get the option to connect to 2G or edge, which my last phone did if 3G wasnt good ( most of the time!)
Its been trying to connect all the time I have been typing this, then comes up with a server stopped responding messsage.

The 3 Network doesn't have a 2G service, it operates on 3G only.
I never turn my WiFi off, 3 may have the biggest 3G network but
It doesn't have the strongest signal.
It sounds like you may have faulty hardware, I def get it checked
By making an appointment at your nearest genius bar and have
Them take a look, if it is faulty they will replace it straight away.
