My contacts were deleted iPhone 3G

When i signed into hotmail through my iphone it put my contacts into where my phone contacts are, so i deleted the contacts off the iphone thinking it would just delete the contacts out of the phone but it deleted all of my contacts. how could hotmail do this adding contacts to my phone without my persmission? then gets my windows live messenger contacts deleted i didn't ask for it to add the contacts in my phone i went to this https://bay002.mail.live.com/mail/contacts.mvc#vw=deletedContacts i get this message when i try to restore my contacts Sorry, we couldn’t restore your contacts. Please try again later. these are people i've known for a long time and can't get in contact with some of them because they are not in my country i went to restore contacts it restored them back to my phone not to my messenger i need my contacts back
