We gave our sone a iPhone that had been configured using another account. We've changed the ID for the phone using the Store settings, but when apps need to be updated, it still prompts for the old ID. We're gradually deleting and repurchasing the apps under his current ID, but we can't do this with some - for example the Maps app needs to be updated.

The Maps app is part of the iOS and is not updated except when the iOS is updated. None of the Apps that are part of the iOS can be updated any other way other than updating the iOS, nor are they tied to any user account.
