I am on my 3rd 4s Iphone in less than a year. Overheating and data connection issues. I have heard that CDMA iPhones with carriers like Sprint and Verizon are problematic when moving from one cell tower to another.
I will lose data connection constantly and also access to Voicemail. It is never on regular intervals and can happen when I am driving distances or just sitting in one location.
I am curious to see if anyone is experiencing this, if anyone is aware of Carrier network issues in Ohio/PA, if there is an inheritant connection issue with CDMA iPhones.

Actually, one of the benefits of CDMA is how well it hands off from one tower to another.
Thanks for the quick response.
I am involved in the wireless business and work very closely with Verizon. They have advised me that sometimes hand-offs in one area to another can be problematic. They have told me to use *228, do a reboot or airplane mode to update the tower site lists. I am told that GSM updates more efficiently and this is why ATT devices seem to perform better.
I am experiencing data connection loss this way and sitting still, too. We have customers who are also asking us about this.
Bummer. Don't know what to suggest. It sounds like you have a good handle on what the problem is.
I know plenty of people with AT&T and T-Mobile who don't have problems like what you describe... and plenty with Verizon and Sprint who have to manually punch in a code to update the tower locations as you describe every time they travel. I'm in the NE Ohio area and go back and forth between here and PA on a fairly regular basis as well as some other occasional travel.
