Can I Use Wifey Upgrade Option to Get New iPhone Subsidized

I would go to the AT&T store personally.
Call AT&T and ask if this is going to be an issue. I have done similar (not with iphone) in the past. Check with AT&T.

You can indeed update your account with an iphone using your wifes upgrade. What you will need to do is do the upgrade, activate phone on her line (as she will have to take the contract) call into ATT we will update your line with the new IMEI number and move the phone over on your line. Then put your sim card in and it will work. Then we will reupdate her line with the old blackberry she has and she can put the new sim that was sent with the iphone in her phone.
No real issues ever happen when we do this, but yes we dont really care as long as she signs the 2yr contract.

Great! I have no idea how much of a rush its going to be this time. Think I should reserve one online via the Apple Store or just go into an AT&T store in person and do it that way? I think a lot of people are going to want this upgrade.
However if I read your note correctly it doesnt matter how I reserve and buy it since initially she will be the new owner of the iPhone and she will have to pick it up and sign up for it in person until we go into an AT&T store and do a transfer of phones and numbers, correct?
So I may as well buy online and we pick it up at the Apple Store?

2g users can update as long as they are eligible on their respective accounts.

Its up to you how you do the upgrade but yes you can go into the store or reserve it. We arent sure on the stocks we will have at this time so it might be good to get to the store early. I dont expect such a big rush as the 3g since so many people arnt eligible for the upgrade or already used it to get the 3g.
But yes the owner will be your wife as it will be on her line (are you on the same account or is it two seperate accounts with two different social security numbers?) either way you can do this all over the phone once you have the phones with you. Its a little faster that way, i can get it done in about 5 minutes so it shouldnt be more then 15 with even the slowest person lol.
apple stores should have a higher stock so i would advise of reserving it and going to an apple store a little early to make sure you can get it. But thats up to you, the fact there are more ATT stores then apple might give you a better chance just going into one of our stores, but thats up to you lol
