My 3G iPhone shows (in Settings/General/Bluetooth) that it is paired with my Plantronics PLT 510 headset. However, when I make an outgoing call, the sound comes through the iPhone, not through the headset. And, there is no menu choice to redirect the sound to the Bluetooth headset.
I have had the headset work once or twice, but have been unable to push the magic set of buttons to make it work again. I would think that when the phone says it is paired with the headset, that it would actually use the headset.
I used this headset for over a year with a Samsung cell phone, and it just worked...when the headset was turned on, the phone autoconnected to it and it worked. Why doesnt the iPhone work the same way? I expect better from Apple.

2008-10-15 20:30:06 When I have Bluetooth on and my bluetooth headset connected, when placing or receiving a call the call is thru the headset by default, and Im also provided a menu to switch to iPhone without using the connected headset, or speakerphone for the call. And I can switch from headset to speakerphone and back again during a call.
I use a Jawbone 2, but I dont believe this should make any difference.
Have you tried un-pairing and re-pairing the headset?

Paired and connected are different. I can disconnect the Jawbone from my iPhone, but it remains paired with my iPhone.
