Battery on 3G not charging and drains completely all of sudden iPhone

Hi all,
My iPhone 3G has been charging fine up to recently. Yesterday the problems began. It wont hold a charge all of the way when plugged into the wall or the phone. It seems to charge half way and then if I keep it plugged in, it will start losing charge. And then it drains extra fast when I unplug.
Help.

Hey,
Try resetting the iPhone and see if it has the same issue. Just hold down the Home & Sleep/Wake buttons until you see an Apple appear on the screen. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
If the issue persists, try draining the iPhone completely and then charging it completely.

If it has the same issue after trying the steps above, the iPhone may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

Thank you much. The hard reset isnt working so Ill try the next steps you mention.
