I searched for an App called Drogon dictate. The reply stated it was only available from the US App store. Does anyone know whether this app would work on a UK iphone if I tried to download it direct from the US store

Just change the iTunes store to US and create a new account with whatever us address. As payment method choose 'none'. You can not buy anything through this account, but since the Dragon app is free it's not an issue.
