Apple able to track original buyer of my iPhone 4s

I own an iPhone 4s that is currently locked to Fido. However, I purchased the phone off of someone. When I called Fido to get it unlocked, the were 3/4 of the way through the process when they told me that they could not complete the unlock because I was not the original buyer. THey said that I need to contact the original buyer in order for him to give the unlock the green light. However...I purchased the phone in December, and have misplaced the name/contact info of the buyer. Will Apple be able to find that for me in their system??
