Activating iphone please help 3G

Hi,
Ok I bought a Iphone yesterday and sailed today (Im in the Navy) as such I dont have my pc to activate my Iphone, if I use someone elses Notebook and Itunes to activate my Iphone will it be locked to that specific notebook and Itunes and if not can I get the Iphone to work WITHOUT syncing his music etc
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
