So i recently updated the phone to 5.1.1 (around tuesday). my last call was on sunday. after this update my microphone isn't working anymore. No one can hear my voice. Video works. Siri recognizes a little bit of noise when I blow in the left hole on the bottom. memo works when I shout at the left hole (you can hear your voice but not that much). so it's not a hardware problem. haven't dropped it or something. in fact the 4s stood the days between the call, the update and the second call in it's stand. I did the restart, reset, bla... things

I already booked a genius bar meeting but my question is, sb solved or has the same problem??

I'm having the same problem and is one of my co-workers. We both made appointments at the Apple store and we both ended up having to replace our iPhones since we were out of warranty. The cost for the replacement $149 plus tax for each of us.

I'm not happy about it. They tried a hard reset and that still didn't help. We did not have this problem prior to the 5.1.1 update.

Same happened to my daughters 4S after the upgrade.  Headset works, builtin microphone does not.
