Had been having constant coma issues with 3.1, so upgraded to 3.1.2 the moment it popped up on my screen. Things seem zippier and more responsive, and so far no comas (fingers crossed)
HOWEVER. I realized recently that ever since I updated the carrier file with 3.1, I had not actually received any visual voicemail, in spite of the fact that people have indeed left me messages. (I often use the phone interface for messages, since visual voicemail has always been kinda flakey, so I hadnt thought about the fact that they were never showing up). After doing the 3.1.2 update and getting the new carrier file, now going to visual voicemail just asks me to enter a password and choose default or custom greeting, and gets stuck forever spinning on saving password.
I called the phone interface and it had me set up as if from new. Now the visual voicemail interface doesnt ask me to create a new password any more, but if I try to set my greeting or anything, it just gets stuck (e.g., Saving greeting) or gives an error about voicemail unavailable. Might just be some ATT snafu, but its been like this since this afternoon...

You might want to try calling AT&T and having them reset your voicemail (be sure to listen to all the ones you have currently first, because resetting will erase them).

Adam,
I went through this (a couple of times) when I was having problems with 3.1 and had my phone replaced. Calling AT&T for the reset does work but entering the password, quitting the phone app and power-cycling the phone may do it, as well,

Did you install a hacked carrier update file before updating?
Try restarting or restoring the iPhone.

had this same problem. went to "settings", "general",
"reset", then hit reset "network settings". it rebooted my iphone and there they all were there. then called my phone from itself and it took less then 20 seconds to get the messsage. hope this helps someone.
